Vice President: Ana Cabrera
Ana Cabrera graduated the Academy in May of 2007 and attended Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. During her time there, she was part of the Multi-Cultural Affairs Council as well as a Resident Justice for Student Government. As a member of the Multi-Cultural Affairs Council, she was charged with brainstorming and organizing events that would better include the minority groups at the college who might be feeling otherwise ignored. As a Resident Justice, she reviewed parking ticket appeals as well as club sanctions.
Due to the nature of both positions, I am not only good at communicating and working with others, but also have a high regard for procedure. The Academy was a great place to attend high school and I sincerely hope that I can continue the “family” tradition that we have become so accustomed to in our Alumni Association.
Secretary: Christine Manfredo
Christine Manfredo (’05) is a member of the second graduating class from the Academy. She went on to study product design at Virginia Tech where she earned a B.S. in Industrial Design, Summa Cum Laude. Throughout her education, she proactively participated in student-led groups holding leadership roles. Her most notable experience during undergraduate studies was consecutive roles as Treasurer and President of Virginia Tech’s IDSA chapter (Industrial Designer’s Society of America). Today, she works as a User Experience Designer with Mindray in Mahwah, NJ. Christine develops and designs user interfaces for medical products such as patient care monitors, ultrasound, and anesthesia delivery devices. Her specialties include user research, strategy, system definition, use case scenarios, workflows, validation/usability models in addition to graphic sensibility to aid definition, user experience, and branding.
Christine has been working with alumni of MCASMET to establish the Academy Alumni Association. It was an idea that had been discussed for a number of years, but now it is a reality. As Secretary, Christine will work to continue with this establishment process to gain formal recognition as a non-profit organization. She looks forward to making this an invaluable resource for the alumni and current students!
Treasurer: Anish Abuwala
Anish Abuwala was a member of the Academy Class of 2005, where he served as Student Council President during his senior year. Following his time at the Academy, Anish earned his B.S., Magna Cum Laude, in Finance and International Business from NYU’s Stern School of Business. He currently works at Nomura Securities International as an FX Strategist and resides in New York City.
I am ecstatic to serve as a member of the Alumni Board. Although engineering was not my ultimate career choice, I feel my education at the Academy (engineering included) prepared me beyond measure for college and beyond. My goal is to leverage my finance background as Board Treasurer and to give back to a school which has given me a lot.
